Nicholson, Ledger and now Leto…

One of the 793 comic-book films that JOE has been keeping our eye on is David Ayer’s adaptation of DC Comics’ Suicide Squad, mainly because of the casting rumours surrounding it.

We’ve got some news that is bound to put a smile on that face of yours after learning that that Oscar winning Jared Leto has been cast as the new Clown Prince of Crime.

While the late Heath Ledger’s work in The Dark Knight was brilliant we think Leto is the perfect choice to wear the make-up and scars.

Suicide Squad follows a group of supervillains who were organised by the US government to work together as a black ops team in exchange for redemption so naturally he isn’t on his own, unless he has an awful personality that no one likes.

Mr box-office, or Will Smith as his family calls him, will be playing Batman villain Deadshot so he’ll have a fair bit in common on set with one of JOE’s favourite actors, Tom Hardy.

It doesn’t matter what your plans are, because Bane himself will be making a return to the comic book world and his presence alone has convinced us that this film has massive potential.

Generic go-to action guy Jai Courtney also shows up as Boomerang, but it’s not just the guys who get to kick some ass.

Model turned actress Cara Delevingne will try to enchant us as Enchantress, while the Wolf of Wall Street’s Margot Robbie plays The Joker’s girlfriend Harley Quinn. We wish she was our girlfriend.

Fury’s David Ayer is writing the script as well as directing which will be released on Aug. 5, 2016.
