Taking a look at the missing end credits on the first episode of Loki

Rory Cashin

Yes, we’ve already fully gone down the rabbit hole of theories…

As any Marvel fan worth their salt will know, you always stick around through the end credits.

While that wasn’t 100% worth the pay off for the majority of the episodes of either WandaVision or The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, some of those episodes did indeed feature an added sting in their respective tails.

And so it is with Loki that we sat through the end credits, wondering if we’d get anything extra, but alas, no.

However, what is interesting about the end credits of this particular series, is what is missing from those final frames.

On the very first episode of TBR Spotlight: Loki [LISTEN from 41:45 below] Rory and Eoghan begin to theorise around that end credit sequence…

So the end credits plays out as per usual, giving us the names of the director, the writer, the producers, etc., and etc.

It isn’t until we get to the list of actors that things start to get… interesting.

Tom Hiddleston’s name appears, stays on screen for three seconds, and then it is replaced with nothing.

Gugu Mbathu Raw’s name then appears, stays on screen for three seconds, followed by Wunmi Mosaku, and Eugene Cordero, and then… nothing again.

It is a full nine seconds before another name appears – Tara Strong as Miss Minutes – and then another big gap before Owen Wilson’s name appears.

Now, this could all be nothing, but we’re guessing these empty spots will be filled week-on-week as more famous names are added to the mix, and if our math and timing is correct, there are at least six spaces currently blank in those end credits.

According to IMDb, actors such as Sophia Di Martino (Casualty), Richard E. Grant (Withnail & I), and Sasha Lane (American Honey) have all signed on for currently undisclosed roles, but from the looks of it, there will be a lot more to come than just those three.

And if you remember that mic-drop reveal from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, we’re 100% positive there are still some BIG surprises in store.

We’ll have to see if more names take up those spaces in the next episode…

The first episode of Loki is available to watch on Disney+ right now, and the second episode will arrive on Wednesday, 16 June.
