Watch this fun Irish thriller movie on TV tonight

The film features one of the stars of the series 24 in the lead role.

The actress plays Keira, a woman who has just moved into a secluded old house in Ireland with her husband, Brian (Eoin Macken), and their two children: teen daughter, Ellie, and younger son, Steven.

While the couple are out one evening, the home's power goes out. Over the phone, Keira asks Ellie to go down to the cellar to find the fuse box.

As the teen tries to do this, she mysteriously vanishes. The disappearance stumps the authorities, leading Keira to dig into the dark history of her new home.

Written and directed by Brendan Muldowney (One Last Deal, Pilgrimage), The Cellar is an expansion his creepy 2004 horror short The Ten Steps.

While the feature-length version received mixed reviews from critics, we here at JOE have a soft spot for the film, mainly thanks to its scary set-up, Cuthbert's likeable performance, its fascinating lore, and its memorable ending.

The Cellar is airing on TV tonight on RTÉ2 at 9.35pm. It's currently not available to buy or rent digitally.
