It’s been a long time since anything has been received with the same universal acclaim as Sir David Attenborough’s Planet Earth II.
The BBC series closed tonight, to the same glowing reviews that it has received on social media for the past several weeks.
Twitter positively lit up with adoration for the show’s final instalment, with a special mentions for the turtles who, the BBC have assured, were all safely returned to the sea once filming ended.
Every turtle that was seen or filmed by the #PlanetEarth2 crew was collected and put back into the sea.

Monkey: “Okay Dave. Where do you want me?”
Sir David: “On that wall. Stare meaningfully into the distance.”
Monkey: “Got it.”#PlanetEarth2 pic.twitter.com/h2tNktBez2— BBC One (@BBCOne) December 11, 2016
I think when Sir David Attenborough passes away, that's probably it for Planet Earth. And I don't mean the show.
