#TRAILERCHEST: Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron let their freak flags fly in The Greatest Showman

“Nobody ever made a difference by being just like everybody else.”

Welcome to #TrailerChest, where we’re taking a sneak peek at the brand new trailer for The Greatest Showman.

Plot’s it all about? Following on from the success (or is that “success”? Discuss.) of La La Land earlier this year, it looks like musicals could be having a bit of a comeback moment right now.

So first-time director Michael Gracey snapped up the song-writers for that movie, and put them to work to create some catchy numbers for his new movie, one which celebrates the life of P.T. Barnum (Jackman), the man who helped popularise circuses in the late 19th century.

Jackman is joined by a great supporting cast, who play his protege (Efron), wife (Williams), and star acts (Zendaya, Ferguson), while the script comes from the writer of Chicago and Dreamgirls, two of the better musicals of recent years.

We get the feeling that this film had some major Oscar hopes, but we reckon it will end up being a decent feel-good drama with some good musical numbers and a few “break out the hanky” moments.

At least that is what we hope. This film will live or die by how good the songs are. If they can come up with one as good as ‘City Of Stars’ from La La Land, then they’re already on to a winner.
