#TRAILERCHEST: Ready or Not, we’ve a contender for 2019’s darkest and most depraved horror-comedy

Paul Moore

Ready or not

A film for anyone that hates their in-laws.

Throughout cinematic history, there’s a litany of families that had sinister, gothic, and murderous intent.

Who can forget family dinner scene at The Texas Chainsaw Massacre? Wholesome, social, and warm, you know, aside from the horrific murder and rampant cannibalism. Happy, happy.

On a lighter note, The Addams Family gave us a few good laughs as Wednesday Addams proved that it’s possible to find laughter in a scene where an overly preppy and happy girl gets mildy tortured. See, fun for the whole family.

The history of horror and comedy is brimming with famous families, but in Ready or Not, a young bride is going to wish that she never married into her new family. Then again, when things get gory, it seems that she’s well able to handle herself!

Having seen the first trailer, Ready or Not looks like proof that dealing with some in-laws can be a nightmare.

In a nice piece of casting, Andie MacDowell famously starred in Four Weddings and a Funeral, however, her latest film looks like it’s going to end up in Four Funerals and a Wedding…maybe!

Plot’s it all about?: The film revolves around a young bride (Samara Weaving) as she joins her new husband’s (Mark O’Brien) rich, eccentric family (Adam Brody, Henry Czerny, Andie MacDowell) in a time-honoured tradition that turns into a lethal game with everyone fighting for their survival.
