It was one of the greatest rivalries in Formula 1 history, so it’s no surprise that Ron Howard has turned the story of James Hunt vs. Niki Lauda into his latest movie called Rush.
Fans of F1 will (or at least, should be) familiar with the names Niki Lauda and James Hunt as the two men produced some of the best motor racing ever recorded on camera back in the mid-70’s. Their rivalry began way back in 1975 and captivated audiences both on and off the track and in fairness, it’s a story that writes itself.
Here’s a look at what it says on YouTube: “Rush portrays the exhilarating true story of two of the greatest rivals the world has ever witnessed—handsome English playboy James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth) and his methodical, brilliant opponent, Niki Lauda (Daniel Brühl).
“Set against the sexy and glamorous golden age of Formula 1 racing, Rush follows the two drivers as they push themselves to the breaking point of physical and psychological endurance, where there is no shortcut to victory and no margin for error.”
Rush will also star Olivia Wilde and Alexandra Maria Lara and is set for release on September 13.
