Tony Cuddihy

“Almost all art is taken or borrowed from somewhere else, yet an artist like Prince stands alone.”

James Corden had already recorded Thursday’s edition of The Late Late Show when the sad news that Prince had died filtered through.

He subsequently turned the studio lights back on and an recorded this heartfelt segment to the late singer and musician, who passed away at the age of 57 on Thursday in Minneapolis.

“I was lucky enough to see him live many times, and it was so exciting. At times like this it’s easy to feel incredibly, but today is about celebrating the brilliant songs that he gave us,” said Corden.

“What a thing to have been alive when Prince was making music.”
