‘A Sporting Chance’ will air on Setanta Sports for three consecutive nights, starting next Wednesday, October 15.

The three-part documentary series, set in Limerick City, tells the story of a group of young men and women who come together to turn their lives around through sport. Filmed in partnership with Munster Rugby, Limerick Southside and the Limerick Education and Training Board, it follows a group of school-leavers who are put through a series of life and sporting challenges that push them harder than ever before. From event planning to practical work experience, the group is pushed to do new things they would not have attempted in the past, culminating in their participation in an international tag rugby event in London. A Sporting Chance Trailer from Motive Television on Vimeo. With help from current Munster players Johne Murphy and Felix Jones and legends of the province Marcus Horan and John Hayes, the group’s coaches – former Leinster centre Liam Toland and Ireland Women’s Rugby International Rosie Foley – attempt to turn a disparate group into a team and to confront their own life choices and inner demons along the way. The documentary was put together by Gyre & Gimble and Motive TV, who were also behind #darndale – The Edge of Town, and judging by the trailer, it promises to make for fascinating viewing.
