Video: News anchor doesn’t realise her mic is still on, insults colleague on live TV

"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will hurt forever..."

Alan Loughnane

“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will hurt forever…”

It has long been an unwritten rule in broadcasting to think that, unless somebody tells you otherwise, you should always assume that your mic is live… it could save you some embarrassment.

Ginger Chan of Los Angeles TV station KTLA was caught out badly when she passed a remark on the body fat percentage of co-host Sam Rubin. Okay, that’s a lie, she said it in a much harsher way than that by commenting that he has always been the fat one on the show…

While the comment may have been made in jest and, for all we know, the pair could be extremely good friends, there is no doubt that she scored an own goal with this blooper… Rubin, however, seemed to take the remark well and there was no harm done after the incident except for some self-consciousness from the man himself in front of the mirror the next morning.
