Everyone’s favourite news anchor, Ron Burgundy, had a very special message for Australians watching the Melbourne Cup this morning.

The Melbourne Cup is such a big deal over in Australia that offices across the country stop to watch the race, or so says Ron Burgundy in the latest video to come from the Anchorman 2 star.

According to Ron, America used to be like Australia on Melbourne Cup day with their Kentucky Derby, but apparently kids these days think the Kentucky Derby is just another sex position.

In actual Melbourne Cup news, the favourite Fiorente, ridden by jockey Damien Oliver, won the main event and secured a prize fund of A$6 million (€4.2m) for trainer Gai Waterhouse.

As for the Irish contingent, Willie Mullins trained Simenon finished in fourth with rider Richard Hughes, two and a half lengths behind Fiorente.

Anchorman 2 hits Irish cinemas on December 20.
