WATCH: Martin King’s first ever weather report on TV3 is nostalgic gold

Conor Heneghan

The day a star was born…

He’s been a part of the furniture at TV3 for so long now that it probably won’t surprise you to learn that it’s been 18 years since Martin King first delivered a weather bulletin to a national audience.

Like parents who embarrass their children with videos of them as a baby on their 18th birthday, the Seven O’Clock Show celebrated TV3’s 18th today with footage of Martin’s first weather report back in 1998.

From the start, the charisma and enthusiasm we’ve come to expect of Martin was evident and, strangely enough for Ireland, he even managed to start on a pleasant day too.

A lot of you watching this are probably feeling old all of a sudden, so spare a thought for the ladies who got a shout out on the night of their Debs and are probably feeling it a little more than most.
