Tonight’s movies on TV menu is quite the varied selection…

Outside of the movies on TV tonight, you’ve got some options.

The biggest box office hit of the year has just been made available to stream at home, as has one of the biggest Oscar hopefuls of the year.

But if you’re insisting on checking out one of the movies on TV this evening, there are some proper crackers to choose from, starting with…

The Addams Family – FilmFour – 7.05pm

Since everyone is loving Wednesday on Netflix right now, why not go back and check out the brilliantly funny movie that inspired it so much. Angelina Huston is iconic as Morticia.

The Lost City of Z – Sky Max – 8.30pm

Charlie Hunnam, Robert Pattinson and Tom Holland star in this very good movie about a bunch of young soldiers trying to find a lost Amazonian city.

First Blood – ITV4 – 9pm

The first of the Rambo movies, when they were still good, and quite small in scale.

Old School – Comedy Central – 9pm

The much-loved comedy with Will Ferrell and co. heading back to college to recapture the magic of their youth.

Wild Rose – FilmFour – 9pm

Our pick of the night is this tremendous drama fronted by a jaw-droppingly brilliant performance by Ireland’s own Jessie Buckley.

In the movie, she plays a single mother of two and a former convict who attempts to balance her tricky life with the dream of becoming a famous country singer.

Check out our interview with Buckley about the movie right here:

Last Christmas – RTÉ Two – 9.30pm

An absolutely bonkers Christmas rom-com, featuring some very cute performances by Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding, and soundtracked by classic Wham and George Michael songs.

Braveheart – BBC Two – 10.15pm

Mel Gibson’s Oscar-magnet.

Homefront – Virgin Media Two – 11.05pm

A retired DEA agent (Jason Statham) tries to live a quiet life with his young daughter, until he crosses paths with a local drug lord (James Franco). Perfectly acceptable entertainment.

Why Him? – FilmFour – 11.05pm

Bryan Cranston doesn’t like his daughter’s (Zoey Deutch) new boyfriend (James Franco again!). That’s it. That’s the movie.

Speed 2: Cruise Control – ITV4 – 11.05pm

What if you took the out-of-control momentum of the first movie and put it on the slowest moving vehicle known to man? Oh, and replaced the beloved Keanu Reeves with the “Who’s that?” Jason Patric.

Joy – Channel 4 – 1.05am

Jennifer Lawrence reteams with the director of Silver Linings Playbook for this drama about… the woman who invented a new kind of mop? It is not one of the best movies on TV tonight, to be honest.

Zoolander 2 – FilmFour – 1.15am

Speaking of bad movies on TV…
