A very underrated comedy series has just returned for its second season

Stephen Porzio

Wolf Like Me

With its new episodes scoring a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, the series deserves a bigger audience.

The second season of comedy show Wolf Like Me has just dropped in Ireland and the UK on Prime Video.

The series centres on Gary (Josh Gad, Frozen), an American man living in Australia with his daughter (Ariel Donoghue) – both of whom are still emotionally traumatised by the death of his wife and her mother years previously.

After a cluster of coincidences that imply the hand of destiny, Gary begins to form a relationship with Mary (Isla Fisher, Wedding Crashers), an isolated advice columnist.

However, she harbours a deadly secret – she is a werewolf.

Underrated comedy series Wolf Like Me is back with a second season

Created by Abe Forsythe, who wrote and directed the brilliant comedy zombie flick Little Monsters a few years back, Wolf Like Me is an oddly compelling show – weaving laugh out loud comedy and horror elements with a sincere drama series about two likeable, emotionally vulnerable people.

This strange but affecting blend of tones, as well as its bite-sized 20-30 minute episode runtimes – has led to the second season of Wolf Like Me scoring a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Here is a sample of what critics had to say about the second batch of episodes:

Bloody Disgusting: “The emotional stakes are higher than ever, but so is the series’ sense of magic and werewolf fun.”

Collider: “It goes funnier, delves deeper, expands its own world, develops its relationships, and launches the series into even more unexpected territory than before. In other words, Wolf Like Me transforms itself — into something better and more brilliant.”

Fangirl Freakout: “Wolf Like Me is a creative, original series that has only gotten better in its second season. While it may not be for everyone, nostalgic genre fans are going to love its humour, heart, and horror.”

ScreenAnarchy: “Abe Forsyth… infuses his characters with warmth, humanity, and mordant humour, even when they act most unreasonably… As performed adroitly by Josh Gad and Isla Fisher, it’s easy to root for them.”

Wolf Like Me’s two seasons are streaming on Prime Video in Ireland and the UK right now. US viewers can watch the series on Peacock.
