Bad news if you’re waiting for the new Radiohead album

It's slow progress from the Oxford band

It’s slow progress from the Oxford band.

Despite reports that it would see the light in the first half of 2015, the ninth studio from Radiohead may not appear until next year.

Suppose you can’t rush perfection.

Having confirmed last summer that they were beginning work on their ninth album and the follow-up up to The King of Limbs, drummer Phil Selway has told Drowned in Sound that the band are taking their time with it.

“I wouldn’t want to start to predict that kind of thing in a Radiohead schedule because you can find yourself six months down the line saying ‘I wish I hadn’t have said that actually!’” Selway said when asked if the album would be out this year.

“We worked throughout the autumn up to just before Christmas, and now we’re just taking some time away for other projects.

“We’ll get back to it in March and we’ll make an assessment of where we are then, but we’ve been excited about what we’ve been doing so far. It’s by no means finished yet, so we’ve got a way to go. It’s been a productive time though.”
