Duff McKagan to join Irish radio show

“I can’t wait to be able to share some great music with Ireland every Saturday night.”

Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan and his wife Susan Holmes McKagan have announced they will be hosting their show, Three Chords & The Truth, on Radio Nova.

Starting on July 1, the show will broadcast every Saturday at 6pm with a repeat on Sunday at 9pm.

Commenting on the announcement Duff said:

“I’ve had such a great history with Radio Nova, so it’s great to finally have my own show on the station. I can’t wait to be able to share some great music with Ireland every Saturday night. My wife and I play stuff that we feel represents the truth of rock and roll so we think you’ll find it just as Seriously Addictive as the rest of Radio Nova.”

McKagan originally launched the show in 2020 on the American radio channel Sirius FM alongside his nephew Dexter Charles, where they curated and provided commentary on their favourite songs.

Growing up in Seattle, McKagan joined the rock band in 1985, replacing bassist Ole Beich, where he played for 12 years during the outfit’s most successful period. Throughout that time, they released albums such as ‘Appetite For Destruction’ (which contained hit singles ‘Welcome to the Jungle’, ‘Paradise City’, and ‘Sweet Child o’ Mine’) and ‘Use Your Illusion’.

The 1993 covers album ‘The Spaghetti Incident?’ was the last to feature McKagan before he left the band. He then rejoined in 2016 alongside Slash and has been performing with them since. They played Dublin’s Marlay Park in June last year.

The bassist has also played in other bands including 10 Minute Warning, Loaded and Velvet Revolver. He has previously performed with Alice in Chains, Jane’s Addiction and Hollywood Vampires.

The 59-year-old has released two solo albums, Believe in Me (1993), Tenderness (2019). He recently announced that his new album, Lighthouse, will release this October.
