Richie Egan returns with another masterpiece.
You hear a lot of bluster about the Irish music scene being better than its ever been and blah blah blah but hey, sometimes, the argument is especially sound.
Take the current time of the year, for instance. In the last few weeks we’ve gotten excellent new albums from Girl Band, Tandem Felix and Daithí, with a striking debut still to come from Maija Sofia and the long-awaited long-player from Mango X MathMan.
And now we can add the mighty Jape to the mix.
The two-time Choice Music Prize winner may well end up the favourite to take that crown again next year when the ceremony rolls around in March, if the title track from his forthcoming record is anything to go by.
‘Sentinel’ is yet another magnificent example of delicate craftsmanship from the man born Richie Egan, setting the tone nicely for the parent record’s release on Friday 17 November.
