JOE’s 5 go-to gigs in Ireland this week (August 10 – August 17)

The best of the live music gigs across Ireland this week

Eric Lalor

The best of the live music gigs across Ireland this week.

Who: Sepultura

When: Monday, August 10th

Where: Academy, Dublin

Grand masters of all things metal, the Brazilians, Sepultura are back in Ireland for a show in the Academy. Sepultura is the Portuguese word for ‘Grave’ so this tells you a lot about the kind of music you can expect.

There’ll be no heart-felt ballads accompanied with obligatory fist pumping here. No, it’ll be loud, very loud. Go and see Sepultura on their 30th anniversary tour.

Who: David Kitt

When: Thursday, August 13th

Where: Roisin Dubh, Galway

Dublin singer/songwriter David Kitt makes a rare enough appearance with this live show in the wonderful Roisin Dubh this Thursday.

Last year he supported David Gray on both his UK and US tours. Always a treat to see performing live, this gig could be pretty special.

Who: Christy Moore

When: Friday, August 14th

Where: Palace Theatre, Fermoy, Cork

The live performances of Christy Moore are the stuff of legend and he brings his amazing live show to Cork this Friday night for a performance at the Palace Theatre.

He’s also there on the Saturday night.

Who: Rudimental

When: Saturday, August 15th

Where: Custom House Square, Belfast

Part of the annual Belsonic music festival in Belfast, kings of drum’n’bass, Rudimental return to these shores for what promises to be a scintillating gig.

Their second studio album, We the Generation is scheduled for release in September and is a keenly anticipated follow up to their brilliant debut album, Home.

Who: Eli & Fur

When: Saturday, August 15th

Where: The Button Factory, Dublin

DJ/Producer double-act Eli & Fur come to Dublin to show why they are being hyped as a pair to watch in the next year.

Praised by the legendary Pete Tong, the two girls from the UK will look to wow Irish audiences this Saturday night at the Button Factory.
