JOE’S 5 go-to gigs in Ireland this week (June 29th – July 6th)

Carl Kinsella

The best of the live music gigs across the island for the next seven days.

Who: Paloma Faith
Date: Thursday, 2nd July
Where: Iveagh Gardens, Dublin

Paloma Faith, who was recently named Best British Female at the Brit Awards, comes to the Iveagh Gardens to showcase the soulful pop stylings of her acclaimed new album, A Perfect Contradiction.

Who: Christy Moore with Declan Sinnott & Jim Higgins
Date: Monday, July 04
Where: Live At The Marquee, Cork

Christy Moore is such a long-standing bastion of Irish culture that he truly needs no introduction. Whenever he teams up with Declan Sinnott, the audience is guaranteed a powerful, poignant and suitably Christy performance.

Go-

Who: Anton & Stephanie
Date: Friday, July 4th
Where: Spirit Store, Dundalk

Dundalk natives Anton & Stephanie have made the transition from recording covers to penning their own hauntingly melodic duets. Their stripped down songs usually feature little more than a guitar and vocal harmonies. The live show is even more powerful than this video.

Who: The Emerald Armada
Date: Friday, 3rd July
Where: Mandela Hall, Belfast

The Emerald Armada have been performing across the UK and Ireland for the past five years, turning out beautiful spirals of sound with palpable trad influences. A little like Mumford & Sons, their multi-vocal, wall-of-sound gigs are a thing to behold.

Who: Paolo Nutini (supported by Imelda May)
Date: Saturday, July 4th.
Where: Marlay Park, Dublin

As revealed on JOE earlier this year, Paolo Nutini plays Marlay Park this Saturday, his first Ireland show since he sold out the 3Arena last November. Nutini enjoys explosive popularity in Ireland and his most recent album, Caustic Love, shot to the top of the Irish album charts in 2014.

As if that wasn’t enough, the Scottish singer-songwriter will be supported by Dublin songstress Imelda May, whose album also reached number one here in her homeland.

**BONUS GIG**

Who: Taylor Swift
Date: Tuesday, June 30th.
Where: 3Arena, Dublin

After dazzling in the 3Arena on Monday night, we had to get some Taylor action in to our go-to gigs. The savviest businesswoman/popstar in the world plays two nights in Dublin and if the Monday night reaction is anything to go by, you Tuesday night TSwiz fans are in for something pretty dayum special.

Some show from TSwiz. Insane staging, what a lady. @taylorswift #Dublin
