Morrissey has come out in support of, uh, Nigel Farage

Carl Kinsella

Not so easy to make sense of this one.

While Morrissey’s has never been shy about his political views, we simply prefer to think of him as the man behind such classics as Panic!, This Charming Man and Ask.

Sadly, the singer keeps on pushing the envelope. In an interview today, the former Smiths frontman has come out in praise of former UKIP leader Nigel Farage – most famous for his immediate turnaround about the money the NHS would get if Britain voted to leave the EU.

Morrissey referred to Farage and George Galloway as “liberal educators… loathed by the BBC because both men respect equal freedom for all people, and they are not remotely intimidated by the BBC.”

He also slammed new Mayor of London Sadiq Khan for eating Halal meat (he is a Muslim) and “speaking so fast that nobody can understand him.”

Now let’s just pretend this didn’t happen and remember the better times we’ve had with Morrissey, shall we?

That’s better.
