Noel Gallagher speaks, world listens…

This JOE has never hid his wish that, if given the choice of choosing a person to interview, then it would probably be the former Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher.

Not everyone is a fan of his music but it’s hard not to love Man City’s most beloved fan because his interviews are just priceless.

It has probably gotten to the stage where Noel could release an album of just interviews and it would go platinum although this probably wont be happening any time soon because he does have a new album out, Chasing Yesterday in March, and upcoming gigs at the Odyssey and 3Arena.

The High Flying Birds frontman was speaking during BBC Radio Four’s Master Tapes series and gave a few amazing soundbites about how he views the music industry today.

This gem was one of our favourites, “music is very middle class, I’d have eaten Bastille alive in an afternoon in the ’90s, one interview, destroyed, gone, never to be heard of again. Easy, had ‘em for breakfast”.

It’s hard to imagine the musical landscape without the former Oasis guitarist but this anecdote about his plans when starting out in Oasis also  made us giggle. “When I first started I wanted to get in the charts and wreck it, like stamp Phil Collins out and Wet Wet Wet, they’ve got to go, and all that ’80s gear, we don’t need that anymore”.

When asked on the success of One Direction, he replied: “They’re not a band, they’re a group and good luck to those lads. Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian, that’s ten years ago now and shame on those two bands for a start because they didn’t inspire anybody else.

Ah Noel, don’t ever change.
