Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds announce a new album and upcoming gigs in Dublin and Belfast

Keep the 3rd and 4th of March free…

We’re big fans of Noel Gallagher here in JOE Towers because not only has he written some of our favourite tunes but the guitarist is pure gold when it comes to giving an interview.

The former Oasis leader has just announced details of his new album, Chasing Yesterday, during a live Q&A session on Facebook and news of two upcoming Irish gigs.

The first single from the album, In The Heat Of The Moment, will be released on November 17 but the big news is that his band, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, will embark on a run of arena dates in March to coincide with the albums release on March 2.

The latest album is the first to be produced as well as written by Noel and we’re being told that it features a much broader array of instruments and draws from a larger range of musical genres. Oooooooh.

In typical fashion, he said that making the album “was a major pain in the arse”.

“It’s not that I’ve ever had people telling me what to write or what direction to go in, but managing sessions from one end of the week to the other proved extremely difficult,” he said.

“I had all these people looking at me and saying: ‘right, what are we doing today?’ I was making the whole thing up as I went along.”

We weren’t expecting anything else to be honest and, in that, vein, we strongly urge you to check out this commentary he did for the Oasis DVD.

Gallagher’s close friend and former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr will also feature on the album because Man City fans stick together like that.

We’re quite fond of Gallagher’s first solo record and having seen him play before, we can safely say that he’s worth the admission fee.
