Combining dark country vibes and Beach Boys-era rock tunes, Father (not a real priest) John Misty has added a third date to his sold-out Vicar Street run. Enjoy catching him in this more intimate setting before his growing popularity inevitably sees him upgrade to bigger venues.

Funk-infused pop will be winging its way to Dublin in the form of Bruno Mars. The songwriter-turned-singer has enjoyed massive success since swapping writing duties for the mic and there’ll be plenty of chart-topping hits played in Marlay Park.

When LCD Soundsystem announced their split in 2011, many Irish fans thought they’d missed their chance to catch their disco-punk sets in the flesh. Now they’re back so you can tick them off your bucket list in June.

6. Ed Sheeran – Dublin, Cork, Galway, Belfast – May

Ed Sheeran’s irresistible march towards pop domination shows no sign of slowing down. He’s performing an eye-watering nine gigs in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Belfast between 4 May and 19 May. Garth Brooks must be wondering how he got away with it.

7. Michael Bublé – Croke Park, 7 July

The Canadian neo-crooner may not be everyone’s cup of tea but there’s no doubting his popularity. If you like clean-cut, jazzy pop standards sung by an inoffensive guy in a tailored suit, this is the show for you.

Godfather of grime coming through. Arguably the most important artist in the movement, Wiley has defined the genre as a pioneer, artist, producer and mentor. It’s a must-see for fans of UK grime.

9. Taylor Swift – Croke Park, 15/16 June

Pop princess Taylor Swift has bounced back from some vaguely negative press with a new album and a feisty response to that demographic widely referred to as “the haters.” Pop fans can hear her back catalogue of break-up tunes and pop anthems over two nights in Croker.

10. The National – Donnybrook Stadium, 15/16 June

Indie rock crowd pleasers and critical favourites, The National, are bringing their unique brand of morose but optimistic tunes to Donnybrook this summer. Their two outdoor shows will feature support from the likes of Lisa Hannigan and Villagers.

Future Islands may have found success late in life but the synth-pop outfit has certainly hit their stride on record and on stage in recent years. They’ll make a welcome return after last year’s critically-acclaimed Iveagh Gardens gig.

12. Gorillaz – Malahide Castle, 9 June

Damon Albarn and the talented Gorillaz collective will bring their eclectic sound to Malahide Castle in June. It will be interesting to see how they bring the band’s cartoon alter egos to this suitably big stage.

13. Andrea Bocelli – 3Arena, 30/31 October

The famed tenor is a global star who has enjoyed success with both pop and classical music. Which is just showing off, really… He’ll be performing in the 3Arena over two nights to give his fans a chance to enjoy his syrupy sweet vocals in person.

14. Sepultura – Tivoli Theatre, 15 March

The Brazilian thrash metal superstars bring their unique brand of rhythmic noise to town in March. They may have lost the Cavalera brothers but the current line-up still packs a punch.
