Talk about playing through the pain…
If you’ve ever seen the movie Whiplash, you’ll have some sense of what a drummer’s hands will go through while they put in the hours of practice they need to master their song.
While there’s no doubt that some of the scenes in that movie are dramatised, Abe Cunningham, the drummer from Deftones, clearly went through a lot of hardship during their gig in Philadelphia last night.
The band posted this image of Cunningham’s hand following the gig with the caption, “Another day at the office”.

Fair play to him for finishing out the gig after what we assume was a nasty collision with a cymbal edge or snare rim…
