Republic of Loose to be honoured at Trinity College, Dublin

Hard to think of a band more deserving.

Iconic Dublin rock band Republic of Loose are set to be honoured by Trinity College Dublin’s prestigious Philosophical Society.

The beloved band will receive the Gold Medal of Honorary Patronage from the Philosophical Society at Trinity College on Tuesday 18 September. Receiving the award will be Mik Pyro, Brez, Dave Pyro, Deco Quinn, Benjamin Loose, Coz Nolean and Andre Antunes.

This award is given to exceptional individuals who have excelled in their given fields. And any band that has written songs as good as theirs has certainly excelled.

Other recipients of the award include such important figures as Vice President Joe Biden, Professor Brian Cox, Al Pacino, Conan O’Brien, Dame Helen Mirren, Whoopi Goldberg and Martin Scorsese. So the lads will be in exceptionally good company.

The band will take part in a Q&A after the award ceremony, marking the first public appearance of the original line up in over a decade. The presentation will be made in Trinity College on 18 September.
