Ryan Sheridan will play our Sunday Sessions Live 2 gig at Whelan’s on October 22 (tickets here). The Monaghan man is currently on tour in China and he’s going to give us a tour diary during the trip.
Day 2.
“Day two in Xuzhou; this morning we went straight to soundcheck in an area known as the wetlands, it’s almost like a jungle. All along the road leading to it were posters of my face! So cool!”
“Arriving at the venue we were greeted by a lot of people wanting photos with us. Every person there, even the organisers wanted photos. Someone even handed their baby to Darren, our bassist, and took a photo.”
“After soundcheck we went for more traditional Chinese food in a really nice restaurant. We’re still not sure what we’re eating but some of us sampled Duck’s tongue.
“It’s a Chinese delicacy but it’s hard not think about the fact it looks like the rabbit from Donnie Darko.”
“The Chinese people are so friendly and welcoming. They really want you to experience their culture first hand.”
“Alex Wang the owner of Mayson Guitars arrived here in Xuzhou to greet us which was a great experience. They were all really excited for the show at the festival, as were we!”
“Headlining the festival was amazing experience, a huge crowd of 8,000 crazy fans and we’re the only non-Chinese performers! People were walking on stage in the middle of the set to give presents.”
“It was an incredible experience to play to an audience of a completely different culture yet still get an amazing reaction to the music.”
