70-year-old man killed in traffic collision in Galway

The incident occurred on Tuesday night.

Gardaí are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the Ballinasloe to Laurencetown Road, at Sycamore Hill at approximately 8.30pm on Tuesday 19 February.

The sole occupant of the vehicle, a 70-year-old male driver was fatally injured when his car hit a wall.

His body was removed from scene and taken to the morgue at University Hospital Galway where a post-mortem will take place.

The road is currently closed pending an examination of the scene by Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
