One motorist was caught travelling 188km/h in a 120km/h zone.
Nearly 900 motorists were caught exceeding the applicable speed limit around the country during the 24-hour National Slow Down Day.
One person was caught travelling at 188km/h in a 120km/h zone on the M7 near Naas in Kildare.
Between 7am on Friday and 7am on Saturday, 892 vehicles were detected travelling over the speed limit.
In total, An Garda Síochána and GoSafe checked 186,125 vehicles over the 24 hour period.
An Garda Siochana and the Road Safety Authority expressed their thanks to all the drivers they found to be compliant with the speed limits.
