Carl Kinsella

92 passengers of a Russian military aircraft are presumed dead after the plane crashed in the Black Sea near Sochi on Sunday morning, according to a report by The Moscow Times.

Aboard the Tu-154 passenger aircraft were 64 members of the Alexandrov Ensemble, also known as the Red Army Choir, who had been scheduled to perform at a New Year’s event for the servicemen at Hmeymim miltary base.

The choir was accompanied by other Russian servicemen, as well as some journalists and the “prominent philanthropist and charity worker Elizaveta Glinka, also known as Doctor Liza.”

Bodies have already been found in the Black Sea, and Russia has launched an investigation into the cause of the crash. Moscow Times has reported that weather conditions were favourable and that no technical difficulties were reported by the pilot over the course of the flight.
