Employees in all of Aldi’s 149 Irish stores will feel the benefit.

Aldi has announced it will raise its hourly pay rates for employees next year.

Store assistants are set to be paid up to €14.90 an hour from 1 February onwards, while entry-level employees will receive €12.90 an hour, matching the recommended living wage rate from the Living Wage Technical Group.

Commenting on the increases, Niall O’ Connor, Aldi Group Managing Director, said: “The commitment and enthusiasm of our colleagues has driven our success over many years, particularly during the last 18 months when their efforts have been nothing short of heroic.

“Aldi has always offered the best pay in the supermarket sector and we want to ensure our colleagues are always fully rewarded for their amazing work.”

Aldi recently pledged to invest €320 million in Ireland over the next three years, which will see Aldi open 30 new stores across the country.

To support this growth, Aldi is planning on recruiting more than 600 permanent store-level positions next year.
