The warning was issued over the weekend.

Bank Of Ireland have issued a warning to their customers in light of a potential new scamming operation, targeting some of their customers.

Apparently, some BOI customers have received phone calls after they have tweeted the bank’s twitter account.

Bank Of Ireland tweeted from their account about the scam in operation:

“We’re aware that a fraudster is making calls & sending emails claiming to be from BOI. If you receive a call on foot of a tweet to us & want to check it’s genuine please DM us. Never disclose your full log in details for your business/personal account.”

They also direct customers to the ‘Security Zone’ section of their website, where they list the things that a Bank Of Ireland staff member will never do on a call, what a Bank Of Ireland employee may ask for, and the top tips on how to keep your account safe.

As per the website, they state that “We are committed to keeping your everyday banking secure so you can manage your accounts and payments with confidence.

“To help you learn how you can protect yourself from fraudsters, read our guidance so that you can spot common scams and know how to avoid them.”
