Bus and tractor collide on Belfast Road, leaving the entire front of the bus destroyed

One person is in serious condition following the accident.

One person has been left in serious condition in hospital following an incident that took place on the Belfast Road in Newtonwards on Monday.

A bus collided with a tractor in County Down, smashing the entirety of the front of the bus.

The PSNI have said that 15 people were travelling on the bus, with a number of them being treated in Ulster Hospital as a result.

Speaking to Belfast Live, a spokesperson for the South Eastern Trust said they were treating 11 people in the Ulster Hospital Emergency Deptartment.

“One is in a serious condition, one is stable and the remaining patients are all comfortable,” she said.

“Our Emergency Dept is busy this evening and patients may be required to wait longer than we would wish. We appreciate your understanding at this time.”
