Coldplay fans left confused over one part of surprise Grafton Street gig

They were joined by a number of other artists.

Grafton Street was packed out on Wednesday evening after Coldplay took to the street to surprise fans with an impromptu performance.

Chris Martin wasn’t going to let the Oasis reunion announcement overshadow his band’s four sell-out concerts Croke Park this coming weekend.

The frontman was joined on Grafton Street by artists Little Simz, Burna Boy, Elyanna and TINI, where they performed their song ‘We Pray’ to the hoards of onlookers.

However, some were confused by their performance, as they ended up playing the same song five times, before departing.

It turns out that the mini gig was part of a music video which they were filming in the capital, that is set to go live on the band’s official TikTok channel.

While most seemed to enjoy the surprise Coldplay performance on Grafton Street despite the repeated song, some also complained that they couldn’t get close enough to hear the performance on the packed street.

Multiple Gardaí were present throughout the performance, with the band’s video crew also on hand to film.

It is believed that the band will be joined by the artists again in Croker to perform the song live on stage for the first time.

Coldplay will take to the stage for the first night of their sell-out run in Croke Park tonight, Thursday 29 August, followed by Friday, Sunday and Monday.

The gigs will be the first time the band has performed the GAA stadium since 2017.

Maggie Rogers and Dublin native Aby Coulibaly will both open as support for their stint in Dublin.

The English band began their Music of the Spheres World Tour in March 2022 and have since sold over eight million tickets.
