Dun Laoghaire is about to get an upgrade as plans for an urban beach with a floating swimming pool will be unveiled later today.

Dún Laoghaire Harbour Company and Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council are hoping to emulate Badeschiff in Berlin, pictured above, which is a similar urban beach.

The whole project should cost around €2.5 million, and might even be finished by summer of 2015, so if we happen to get any more good weather next year we can expect it to be packed.

The pool would be heated, and filled with treated seawater, according to The Irish Times, and would be situated just next to the East Pier.

There are also plans for a cafe, as well as toilet facilities and changing rooms, but you might have to fork over a few quid, as the proposed entrance fee will be about the price of a cinema ticket.
