Just when you thought GarthGate couldn’t get any worse…

Lord Mayor of Dublin City Christy Burke has revealed that some people have contacted him saying they want US President Barack Obama to step in to resurrect hopes of the Garth Brooks concert going ahead.

The Taoiseach Enda Kenny got involved last night but some Dubliners feel that they need to go to a higher authority to sort the situation out, as the Dublin Lord Mayor told Morning Ireland: “I had a group of residents from Ballybough who said they intend to call Mr Obama to try to encourage Garth Brooks to play in Dublin.”

Christy Burke also revealed his been offered assistance from Mexico of all places: “The Mexican ambassador contacted me yesterday and he offered his services at a diplomatic level if he could be any help.”

Christy Burke will meet city manager Owen Keegan and chief executive of the Labour Relations Commission Kieran Mulvey today to try and get the concerts in Croke Park back on.
