Gardaí missing person Wexford Fintan Thomas

Tragic news.

Gardaí have opened an investigation after finding two dead bodies at a home on the outskirts of Kilkenny.

The cause of death has not been confirmed, but RTÉ is reporting that it is believed carbon monoxide poisoning may have resulted in the two deaths.

It has been revealed that the man was 83 and the woman was 79, but neither of the deceased’s names have been made public.

The State Pathologist has been informed and gardaí are currently at the scene which is on the Johnswell Road.

The bodies are expected to be removed to Waterford Regional Hospital later today.

According to the HSE, Carbon monoxide (CO) gas is produced by the incomplete burning of fuel. It is poisonous, and even breathing in a small amount can cause loss of consciousness and death.

40 people die in Ireland from accidental carbon monoxide poisoning every year.
