We thankfully haven’t all been there.

A woman sparked panic on Saturday whilst aboard a plane, having mistaken the emergency exit for the toilet.

The passenger was onboard a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight when the incident occurred.

Pakistan’s Express Tribune reports that the unnamed woman opened the emergency exit door under the impression that it was the bathroom.

The plane was on the runway at Manchester Airport at the time that the emergency exit door was opened, which resulted in the aircraft’s airbag chute opening and the evacuation of 37 passengers.

The flight, bound for Islamabad, was set to take off.

Due to the incident, the flight was subsequently delayed for a total of seven hours.

An investigation has been opened following the event, with a PIA spokesperson quick to play down any severity.

“The plane was parked on the runway when the airbag chute opened, so there was no threat of any kind,” said PIA’s Mashood Tajwar.
