Macklemore was joined by a plethora of Irish acts, as well as many more surprises, at his sold-out Palestine fundraiser concert in Dublin last night.
The Free Palestine tour was announced by the American rapper last month after he was controversially dropped from Ed Sheeran's loop tour for his onstage 'Free Palestine' speech.
The dates in Dublin, Paris and London all sold out immediately, with all proceeds benefitting organisations supporting "the Palestinian people and movement", including Medical Aid for Palestinians, Palestinian Youth Movement, Gaza Soup Kitchen, Jewish Voices for Peace, Heal Palestine, Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, UNRWA USA National Committee, and many more.
The line-up remained unknown leading into the show, but the Grammy winning rapper teased to his Instagram story that there would be 'many incredible surprise guests'.
Macklemore put on a show which one attendee said they had "no words to describe" what they had witnessed.
While onstage, Macklemore said: "Six weeks ago, it was two words, two words is all that it took.
"Two words that are rooted in love and liberation. Not against anybody, not divisive, not a call for hatred, but a call to recognise our shared humanity.
"Free Palestine."
He continued: "And while the world debates those words, we see the videos, we see the footage, we see parents pulling their children out of the rubble, families erased. Devastation beyond our imagination, and somehow, those words have become more controversial than the suffering that made them necessary.
"That's why we're here tonight. That is why we are here, because throughout history, music has given people the place to resist, to come together as a collective, to share our grief, to share our stories, to move from the heart, to mobilise people with the frequency of love, the heartbeat in our drum that makes us feel alive, that makes us feel connected.
"It has been beautiful to watch."
The Take Me to Church singer also called on the Irish government to approve visa applications for 55 students in Gaza who are awaiting approval to take up "scholarship places they have earned and scholarship places that are waiting for them here in Ireland".
Kneecap, who are no strangers to facing backlash over their support for Palestine, also performed at the gig.
A member of the Belfast trio jokingly thanked Sheeran for "helping to organise this concert".
Other surprises of the night included guest speakers such as Irish actor Liam Cunningham, psychotherapist and activist Nadia Greenspan, as well as activist and organizer Samir Eskanda.
Additionally, video messages were played from several celebrities who couldn’t attend the gig, offering their support. There was messages from Julian Casablancas, Cynthia Nixon, Ilana Glazer, Natasha Rothwell and Mark Ruffalo.
The sold-out Free Palestine Tour continues this week in Paris on October 29, and London on October 30.

The tour kicked off last night a 13,000 capacity full 3Arena, with acts such as Hozier, Kneecap, and Beoga who were Sheeran’s backing band on the tour, but subsequently dropped out in solidarity with Macklemore.

According to Rolling Stone, Beoga told the audience during their set: "The times are changing, we’ve never been prouder to be from the country we’re from", while Hozier highlighted the countries history of "global solidarity when it comes to emancipation and justice. A wonderful history of anti-racism, also.”
