Nóra’s parents are hoping for “more answers.”

The family of 15-year-old Nóra Quoirin, whose body was found on Tuesday after a 10-day search, issued a statement on Friday following the results of Thursday’s post-mortem.

The post-mortem found that Nóra had died of starvation of stress after spending a week alone in the jungle at the Dusun resort, near Kuala Lumpur.

Friday’s statement was issued through the Lucie Blackman Trust, a missing persons charity who have been handling media for the Quoirin family.

Reflecting on the results of the post-mortem examination, the statement reads: “The initial post-mortem results have given some information that help us understand Nóra’s cause of death. But our beautiful girl died in extremely complex circumstances and we are hoping that soon we will have more answers to our many questions. We are still struggling to understand the events of the last 10 days.”

The exact cause of death given by the police was “upper gastrointestinal bleeding due to duodenal ulcer complicated with perforation.” No foul play is expected at this time.

The family also thanked the various governments involved for their support, and noted that the missing persons and criminal investigations into Nóra’s disappearance would be continuing in Malaysia.

“We will be bringing Nóra home where she will finally be laid to rest, close to her loving families in France and Ireland,” the statement concluded.

Quoirin was an Irish and French citizen, and investigations by French authorities will continue, as is standard practice in France for incidents involving French citizens overseas.

The Lucie Blackman Trust further confirmed that no reward payments were made in relation to the discovery of Nóra’s body. The charity also repeated the request for media to give the family privacy.
