The strike action is open-ended and could last several days.
Aer Lingus and Ryanair have issued statements regarding the major industrial strike actions in France taking place today (Thursday 5 December), which will lead to hundreds of flights to and from the country being cancelled.
In a statement, Aer Lingus said: “Due to a national strike in France, EI524 (Dublin to Paris) and EI525 (Paris to Dublin) on Thursday 5 December are cancelled. Guests whose flights are cancelled have been notified and can choose to rebook or opt for a refund. Other European flights may be delayed or cancelled due to the ATC environment. We’re monitoring closely to determine how the ongoing strike will affect our schedule into the weekend.”

The nationwide strike is taking place in reaction to President Emmanuel Macron’s planned pension reforms, which unions claim will effectively require millions of private sector workers to work beyond the legal retirement age of 62 if they want to receive the full pension they have been promised.
As a result, on top of the airline strikes, 90% of high-speed trains have been cancelled on Thursday, as well as most of the Paris Metro system, and the majority of schools have been closed.
Additionally, there are two major demonstrations planned for Paris that are set to converge on the Place de la Nation, with government officials requesting Paris businesses along those routes to close for the day.
