A Garda recently graduated from Templemore was credited with preventing a shooting in Dublin on Saturday.

A report in the Irish Independent reports that a man in his 30s was arrested in the Collinstown area of West Dublin on Saturday morning. Uniformed Gardaí chased the man after he fled his car into a nearby park. A loaded handgun was recovered, as well as ammunition from the car.

The man’s car was also seized, as part of the investigation.

The unarmed Gardaí had been in the middle of their uniformed patrol of the area when the incident occurred.

The suspect is currently being held at Lucan Garda Station as the investigation unfolds.
