The man remains in a critical condition.
Gardaí in Mayfield are investigating a single vehicle serious road traffic collision that occurred on the M8 near the Dunkettle Interchange, Cork City on Sunday (16 January)
The male motorcyclist (70 years) collided with traffic management signage at approximately 5pm.
He was removed to Cork University Hospital and remains in a critical condition.
The scene is currently preserved and Forensic Collision investigators are conducting their investigation at this time.
The road has been closed and local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
Road users with video footage, including dash cam, are asked to make this available to them.
