Police in Australia are also continuing their search for an Irishwoman who went missing in Brisbane two weeks ago.

Melinda Fanning, 43, went missing from a private property in Holland Park and was last seen leaving a business in Rothwell, a coastal suburb in the City of Moreton Bay, Queensland.

Concerned friends have said that her disappearance is “totally out of character” for her, and have urged anyone with information to get in touch.

Taking to Facebook, Australian Missing Persons Register explained: “She messaged a friend at 4.30pm on Thursday 15/2 saying she was walking her dog Rockey (a brown brindle Great Dane greyhound cross) who is also missing.

“Police traced her to a hardware store in Rothwell on the same day at 6pm. She didn’t turn up to meet another friend on Sat 17/2.”

One of Melinda’s friends added: “She didn’t turn up to her friend’s place on Wed 21/2 as was arranged.

“We were to be helping her with an assignment she was doing for study she’d started.

“She didn’t let us know, which is totally out of character in my experience with her.”

Melinda has been described as Caucasian, around 165cm tall, with a proportional build, blonde hair and blue eyes.
