Gardaí open investigation after body found near Luas stop

Donegal man drowns

Gardaí are “investigating all of the circumstances” after the body of a man was found in Ranelagh.

At approximately 4.40am a 22-year-old man was found unresponsive with a head injury outside the Luas stop on Ranelagh Road. He was taken by ambulance to St James Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The scene is now preserved for technical examination and the Coroner has been notified.

The Gardaí have begun reviewing CCTV footage of the area as part of the investigation, and are waiting on the results of a post-mortem before narrowing their investigation.

The man has not been publicly named.
