It has been reported that Hutch is considering standing in the upcoming general election.

Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch is free to return to Ireland to run in the upcoming general election, according to reports.

Hutch was released from prison in Spain on Monday (4 November) after paying €100,000 for bail.

He is under investigation in the country for alleged money laundering.

Last month, however, it was reported that the 61-year-old has been considering running as an Independent candidate in Dublin’s north inner city in Ireland’s upcoming general election.

And now, The Irish Mirror has reported that a Canary Islands High Court of Justice spokesperson told the paper that Hutch’s passport has not been revoked following his release from custody.

This means he is free to return to Ireland to run in the election, despite the investigation.

According to the Irish Mirror, Hutch’s election bid was “one of the main arguments” in his successful effort to secure bail.
