It’s going to be quite mild in Ireland today, but we can expect some heavy rain

Be ready…

You can never expect too much good news when it comes to weather in Ireland, talk of heatwaves is followed by weeks rain, and talk of dry weather is followed by blizzards.

That’s probably a tad overdramatic, but you’ve got to learn to expect nothing positive from Irish weather and you’ll never be disappointed.

Met Éireann have said that Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle mainly affecting northeastern, eastern and southern counties.

Temperatures will be between 9 and 14 degrees on Tuesday and will be coolest in eastern areas.

There will be a good deal of dry weather on Thursday and Friday, but there will be some showers or occasional rain in places in mostly northeast breezes.

But the outlook towards the weekend and early next week isn’t quite as good as wet, windy and generally more unsettled weather is expected to hit the country.

Met Éireann have said: “Early indications suggest Saturday will be bright for many places with showers but more persistent rain will move into southwestern areas in the afternoon, with fresh to strong southeast winds.

“The rain will move up over the country on Saturday night with some heavy falls in places in blustery southeast winds. Sunday will be breezy with rain or showers in most places.”
