Prepare to protect yourself this week as Met Éireann predicts hailstones

Hail. It’s like snow that hurts.

Met Éireann’s forecast for the coming week doesn’t make for particularly pleasant reading, especially the bit about hail.

The national forecast describes Monday as a “showery day” that will feature “heavy showers in the west and south that will spread eastwards and become widespread in the afternoon, some thundery or of hail.”

Unfortunately, the showers look set to persist, with Tuesday’s forecast reading: “The rain will be heavy at times and will continue through the evening and night.”

Wednesday doesn’t sound as bad: “Wednesday will start of cloudy with rain in many areas. The rain will become lighter and more patchy during the day and will eventually die out during the evening and night. It will be mild with highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees and moderate to fresh southerly winds.”

So if you manage to survive Monday’s hail, then at least things kind of start looking up after that.
