July's forecast is a particularly hot one.

Following on from last month's hot weather, Ireland is set for another heatwave, according to weather experts.

In its latest forecast, Met Éireann says that Sunday (5 July) will be "cloudy in many parts... but sunny spells will develop in the south and southeast," while "patchy light rain, drizzle and mist will persist in parts of the north and west".

As part of this, it expects highest temperatures from 16 degrees in the west and northwest to 24 or 25 degrees in the south and southeast.

As for next week, the overview from the Irish meteorological service adds: "Plenty of dry weather overall with occasional rain and drizzle, mainly affecting the west and north.

"Best of the sunny spells in the south and east at first, but sunshine amounts improving generally early next week."

Monday will also be a mix of cloudy, rainy and sunny, with highest temperatures of 18 to 24 degrees forecast. Tuesday, however, will be a "brighter day overall with more widespread sunshine developing compared to previous days".

This is amid general highest temperatures of 20 to 25 degrees, with conditions to be warmest in the south and east.

While Wednesday will also see "a mix of cloud and warm sunny spells", with "just the chance of a few spots of drizzle near western and northwestern coasts," temperatures are set to remain the same as Tuesday.

As for the rest of the week, Met Éireann's further outlook reads: "Some uncertainty in the details at present with the chance of more changeable conditions, at least for a time."

Other weather experts such as Carlow Weather and Ireland's Weather Channel are predicting further high temperatures and warm weather for late next week, however.

In fact, Cathal Nolan of Ireland's Weather Channel says that sunshine developing more widely across the country on Monday and Tuesday will set Ireland up "for a very warm week".

Nolan forecasts temperatures "in the region of the mid to high 20s later on in the week", adding: "And as we approach next weekend, they could even get towards 30C in some places, depending on the model run that we look at.

"But high pressure is expected to develop close to Ireland next week."

Summing up, Nolan added: "What we're seeing is that our weather is likely to take a turn for the better in terms of ourselves here in Ireland, with temperatures up to the mid to high 20s, pleasant spells of sunshine, and really excellent summer conditions expected as we go to the majority of next week.

"That looks to extend into the following week as well.

"What is more troubling, however, is, of course, for parts of the UK, for France, and the Benelux regions, parts of Western Germany as well... a third significant heat wave in as many months is likely to develop, leading to some extreme temperatures in places, both by day and by night.

"So if you are travelling to these areas, just keep that in mind. Be aware of the severity of these temperatures, the local weather warnings that are in place, and the potential impacts as well."
