Here’s the weather forecast for this weekend

Conor Heneghan

We’d love to be telling you it’s good news.

Alas, it looks as if rain will be the order of the next few days, particularly on Saturday and Sunday, worth bearing in mind if you’ve any outdoor activities planned for the weekend.

According to Met Éireann, Friday will be a decent enough day as bright and sunny spells intersperse with scattered showers, which will mainly affect the north of the country and will become more isolated as the day goes on.

It’s going to be quite warm and humid too, with temperatures reaching as high as 22 degrees in places.

That’s going to be about the height of it for the weekend, however, as by Friday night rain will have become widespread and will turn heavy by Saturday morning and afternoon.

Conditions will still be mild and temperatures will again reach the low 20s, but there is a threat of thundery downpours that should ease by Saturday evening, when the rain is set to become more showery nationwide.

The showers look set to continue into Sunday, when it will be quite breezy, with cooler and fresher conditions set to take hold early next week.
