Great news on the jobs front this evening…

Over 500 jobs are to be created in Limerick after it was announced that The National Sports Business Cluster would be created in the University of Limerick.

The new Business Cluster will be the first of it’s kind in Ireland and is aiming to create up to 570 jobs in Limerick over the next five years.

It will use the elite sports facilities at the University of Limerick’s, the Limerick Institute of Technology’s Sportslab and the Strength and Conditioning centre in Thurles, Tipperary.

The jobs will come in the form of start ups and multinationals providing everything from sports tech to nutrition products according to Silicon Republic.

A conference will be held in the Strand Hotel in Limerick on September 30 to give people an insight into what benefits these clusters are providing globally.

Unveiling plans for the new Limerick cluster, Dr. Pat Daly, Head of Economic Development & Planning at Limerick City and County Council that clusters such as these can help alleviate economic imbalance in Ireland by providing jobs for the area.
